What is Intersession?

Intersession is a two-week enrichment program designed to supplement and enhance your child’s education.  The program incorporates both academic and enrichment activities designed for your child’s enjoyment.  Certified teachers plan activities to be intriguing and educational.  Finally, it allows your child to come together to work with other children while learning new skills.

When and where is Intersession?

Intersession is offered only at HORIZON ELEMENTARY.  Intersession is offered for two weeks in the fall over break and two weeks in the spring over break. Class begins at 8:30 am and ends at 3:25 pm.  (Just like the regular school day)Signs directing you to the appropriate classroom will be posted the first day of the program.

What will my child be doing?

Each day will be filled with reading, writing, math and science activities related to our theme.  Our staff will provide for enrichment activities such as organized games, music, cooking, computer lab, and arts and crafts.  Additionally, at least one field trip will be planned each week.

How can I register & is there anything else to know?

Registration forms will come home in Friday folders and also be available online at least 3 weeks prior to the first day of Intersession. You should find the registration fee comparable to the cost of childcare.  The cost is $100.00 (per week) for all children registered on or before the initial deadline listed on form.  A $15.00 late fee will be charged for all registrations submitted after the given date.  Tuition Assistance may be available, to those who qualify.

Bus transportation and lunch service are not available during Intersession. Each child should come with his/her own lunch, daily. Childcare is available before and after Intersession each day for an additional charge.
